Dear World: Syrian refugees

Traveled to Jordan with Robert Fogarty and CARE International to photograph Syrian refugees. Trended #4 globally on Twitter. Featured by The Independent, Huffington Post, and Upworthy.

In September 2013, Robert Fogarty and I traveled to Jordan with CARE International to photograph Syrian refugees for Dear World. We met families who had fled everything — men with electrical burns from torture, mothers searching for sons, children who had lost limbs.

"I know the violence makes for a great media story, but the huge tragedy in this all is the long-term impact. A lot of these seeds of violence and discord that are being sown right now will be reaping for the next generation."

The portraits trended #4 globally on Twitter that week. The Independent wrote that "the simplicity of the messages is likely to strike a chord and humanise the refugees." Also featured by Huffington Post, Upworthy, and shared thousands of times across social media.
